Why Deadlift Is Important For Us
Deadlift. A stand alone big word and a well-known movement in weightlifting, Crossfit training, and any shape-strength workout. Its name originated from dead-weight being lifted from the ground. No momentum, totally immobile, a pure lift of weights that are lying on the ground.
“The deadlift is a weight training exercise in which a loaded barbell or bar is lifted off the ground to the level of the hips, torso perpendicular to the floor, before being placed back on the ground. It is one of the three powerlifting exercises, along with the squat and bench press” (Wikipedia)
It is done with straight arms, open chest, ruler straight back and proper breathing technique as this movement requires effort. It is less aerobic and more sacrum but make no mistakes – your pulse will raise when you increase the weight. It is a rather noble movement, classy and filled with glory and enormous health benefits.
So what makes the Deadlift so important for us? A lot actually:
- Efficient in strength built to lower body
- Better body posture
- Fat Burn
- Lower risk of back injuries
- Increases multi-jointed muscular strength
- Hormone manufacture encourager
- Safe movement, Cheap and Easy
- Rich variety of deadlifts to choose from
- Increased cardio
- Stronger in real life
- Grip strength durability
- Bone density and strength
Deadlift Is Highly Efficient In Strength Built To Lower Body
Legs, thighs, abdomen and lower back. Contribute to designing powerful well developed Gluteus maximus and a more powerful hip thrust.
The deadlift helps develop the lower body strength with high efficiency, as in many cases this movement will be performed with high weights, its impact will be fast and noticeable. As such many training programs and trainers will recommend the deadlift in some way or form.
Deadlift Is Important For Better Body Posture
Adding deadlift into your training regime will result in a strong posterior chain, core strength, and stability-enables a core of steel to those who practice it on a regular basis.
Wobbly posture comes from several origins such as weak glutes, undeveloped back muscles and hamstrings but one of the main causes is internally rotated shoulders and weak core muscles.
Practicing deadlifts will help build all of the above into strength and alignment. In a relatively short time, you will be able to witness a much straighter posture with a strong back and uplift shoulders.
Fat Burn With Deadlift
The deadlift movement can enormously contribute to belly fat burn, therefore it can and will help you in getting a flatter, firmer abdomen.
In general, doing a deadlift movement helps in the sculpturing of your body and in specific the shaping of your belly. What an enormous fun it is to know that you are getting stronger, healthier AND prettier.
Yes, I do encourage inner beauty as knowledge, intelligence and kindness are definitely the foundation of true beauty. However, being also externally pretty is not something to be ashamed of, especially when it involves being healthier benefit ace. Who ordered a Win-Win?
Lower Risk Of Back Injuries With Deadlift
“I got your back” isn’t just a famous cops movie line. It is also a deadlift real life line. Practicing deadlifts is such a productive train for a resilient back, and we all know how essential it is with our hours sitting in front of the computer syndrome.
Is there anyone who doesn’t know at least 3 people with back pain or some sort of injury? Unlikely so, It is sadly very common nowadays. Low back pain also represents poor blood flow and Qi stagnation in Chinese medicine so more of the merry deadlifts will help you with that too. Good blood circulation, stronger back, lower risk of back injuries.
Deadlift Increases Multi-Jointed Muscular Strength
Stronger hamstrings, Latissimus dorsi muscles (the large V-shaped muscles that connect your arms to your vertebral column), lower back and core muscles, all of whom will also aid you to keep your body parts in its right straight line (neck, shoulders, spine, back, hips, thighs). It is a multi-jointed exercise that works the biggest muscle groups in our bodies.
A Hormone Manufacturing Encourager
Testosterone and growth hormones are secreted in deadlift movement. Testosterone is participating in muscular growth and repair whereas growth hormone promotes tissue healing, bone strength, and muscle growth.
You are literally flooded with anabolic, fat-burning hormones that not only strengthen you physically but also improve your mood and immunity system. Epic!
Deadlift Is A Safe Movement, Cheap and Easy
It is relatively safe, cheap, and easy to perform. You can also easily find a way to practice it outdoors without too much equipment, and the equipment you should have is very affordable. Look at these dumbbells I found on Amazon for intense, or these kettlebells also on Amazon.
The bottom line with this lovely movement is that you can do it safely, cheaply and at home, it needs to be around more than usual.
In case you wish to have the full equipment gear for a home-deadlift trains check out these products I have personally used at GYMs and Crossfit boxes:
Additionally, if you are looking to start your own home gym check out my post on it, you might find some ideas in there.

Increased Cardio
Believe it or not, with the right technique and just about the high intensity you can reach a very respectable pulse, impressive cardiovascular work, and in a hell of an “I made an effort sensation”.
Stronger In Real Life Thanks To Deadlift
All of a sudden life becomes literally more light. Supermarket grocery bags, lifting your child in your arms, moving the sofa for a good vacuum. You become stronger and more sustainable through life’s tasks all thanks to the deadlift. Fun, fun, fun.
Improves Grip Strength Durability
Not much to say in that department as it is what it is. By practicing deadlifts you not only work on your muscles and posture but also on improving your grip as the movement itself involves weights and good solid resistance.
Grip strength can play an indicator of muscular strength, muscular endurance, and believe it or not, general health. Some studies even showed that strong grips are connected to a lower risk of heart attacks and strokes. Hooray to longevity.
Deadlifts are Important For Bone density and strength
So we know that deadlifts are a very wide range of body muscle training and we also know that deadlifts help our hormonal system function better for growth, burn fat, and feel great.
Another marvelous advantage in this movement is its contribution to giving us stronger bones by density improvement. Strong bones are essential for high quality longer living alongside great athletic performances.
Recommended To Pay Attention To :
- Do sufficient and specified deadlift warmup
- Not doing the deadlift properly
- Deadlifting too much
- Lightweight, many reps
- Wrong setup
- Lack of concentration
- Rounding your back/lower back while pushing up the movement
- Too heavy lifts while weaker back and hips
Wow, what a journey this article was. I practice deadlifts for over a year now but was not aware of all of its benefits up until writing these very lines.
If I liked it before, I admire it now. Having so much depth and content in such plain and simple movement makes me realize, once again, that in life simplicity is the best sophistication.
Stick to simplicity then… and the development to a high degree of complexity will follow, through balance, realization, and enjoyment.
Sincerely yours,
HerSide
